Air Pollution has become a major issue, specially in the large cities, in the winter.
With the number vehicles on the roads increasing by 10,000 to 40,000 annually, pollution is everywhere including our homes & workplaces. We spend 90% of our daily time, indoors; homes, offices, education and elsewhere. EPA says that indoor air quality is twice as bad as the outdoors.
An adult takes between 12 and 18 breaths a minute, a 3-year old takes 20 to 30 breaths a minute
and a newborn takes 30 to 40 breaths. Young children breathe in polluted air two to three times more as compared to adults. Todlers crawling on the floor is normal where the pollution level is highest. Same is the case of elderly, who are more sensitive to pollution due to lower resistance to disease.
